Campaign Walk to Raise Awareness Against GBV, 2021

The University of Kabianga held a campaign walk on Sunday 28th November, 2021 to mark the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

The international campaign runs every year for 16 days starting on November 25, on the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women to December 10, Human Rights Day.

The event was organized by the University of Kabianga Directorate of Gender and Development in partnership with other stakeholders (James Finlay Kenya, Siloam Hospital, Rotary Club of Kericho, Kenya Red Cross Society, Lions Club of Kericho, Brighter Communities Worldwide, Kenya Girl Guide Association, Transform Us Kenya Kericho, and Linda Msichana Organisation). Participants (adorned in orange T-shirts) walked from University of Kabianga’s main campus to Kericho Town with stop overs (addressing the audience on matters relating to ending violence against women in the society) at Kabianga market, Kapkelek market and Chebown center. The final address speech was at the County Commissioner’s office (Kericho).

The global theme for this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is Orange the world: End violence against women now!”

Standing in for the Vice- Chancellor, Dr. Isaack Naibei (Dean School of Business & Economics) flagged off the walk.
